How it works
Admissions or students: what is the difference?
Why SkoolBro keeps applicants and enrolled students in separate lists, and how an application becomes a student in one step.
Schools sometimes ask why SkoolBro has an Admissions section as well as a Students section. Many families who ask about a place never enroll, and the student list should only hold children who actually attend. So applicants wait in admissions until they join.
How a place moves through admissions
- Inquiry. A parent calls, writes or visits. The office notes the child, the grade they want and how to reach the family.
- Application. When the family wants to go ahead, the inquiry becomes an application with the child's details and the parents' contacts.
- Decision. The school moves the application through its stages, then offers a place, puts it on the waiting list or turns it down.
- Enrollment. When the family accepts, one action enrolls the child. SkoolBro creates the student record from the application, links the parents and gives the next admission number.
Why keep them apart
- Class lists, attendance registers and fee invoices include only children who attend.
- Families who decide not to join never clutter your student records, and their details stay with their application.
- You can see how many applications are at each stage and follow up on the ones waiting.
Nothing is typed twice
Everything entered during admissions carries over when the child enrolls: names, date of birth, parents and their contact details. If a brother or sister already attends, the same parents are linked, so the family shows up together.
