Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data SkoolBro handles, why, and the choices you have. It covers this website, skoolbro.com, and the SkoolBro app at app.skoolbro.com.
Who is responsible for the data
Schools decide what they record about their students, families and staff, and SkoolBro keeps and processes those records for them. For that data, the school is responsible and we act on its instructions. If you are a parent, student or member of staff, your school is the best place to start with any question about your records.
SkoolBro is responsible for the data about the people who sign up and sign in, such as school owners and staff accounts, and for data about visitors to this website.
What we collect
Accounts
- Your name, email address or phone number, and the school or organization you belong to.
- Your password, stored only as a secure hash that cannot be turned back into the password.
- Two-step sign-in settings, and a record of sign-ins (time, IP address and browser) so we can spot misuse and show you where you are signed in.
School records
Whatever a school chooses to keep in SkoolBro, for example student and family details, attendance, fees and payments, exam marks, homework, messages, staff records, leave and payroll. Identity numbers and medical notes are stored encrypted.
Visitors to this website
This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies. Our server keeps logs of requests (IP address, page and browser) to keep the site secure and fix problems. The site's font is loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when the page loads.
How we use it
- To run SkoolBro for your school and show each person what their role allows.
- To keep accounts secure, for example by locking an account after repeated wrong passwords.
- To send the messages your school asks us to send, such as absence notices, invoices and announcements, by email and in the app.
- To answer your questions and give support.
- To manage your school's subscription and invoices.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. We do not use school records to train AI models.
Who can see it
Inside a school, people see only what their role and campus access allow. Each school group's records are kept separate from every other school's.
SkoolBro staff cannot open a school's records unless the school gives our support team access, which lasts for a limited time and can be ended at any moment. Everything support staff do is recorded in the school's audit log.
We use other companies to run the service, such as our hosting and email providers. They process data only to provide their service to us.
Cookies
The SkoolBro app uses cookies that keep you signed in and protect forms from misuse. It does not use advertising or tracking cookies. This website sets no cookies of its own.
How long we keep it
School records stay while the school uses SkoolBro. When a school closes its account, we delete its records, apart from anything we must keep by law, such as our own invoices. Sign-in records are kept for a limited time for security.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the data held about you, correct it, have it deleted or receive a copy. For school records, ask your school, which can make most changes directly in SkoolBro. For your own account, write to [email protected].
Children
Schools add their students to SkoolBro. Students get their own sign-in only when their school invites them, and they see only their own records.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update this page and the date below. For important changes, we tell school owners by email before they take effect.
